Welcome!
Sue Clancy is a fine artist and author/illustrator who thinks visually about human perception and communication. With animal characters, most often dogs or cats, she playfully explores concepts like time, mental health and what’s for lunch. She carries this playfulness into everything she does – whether for exhibit at an art gallery, an illustration, a pattern design, a public art project, an artist book or an image for publication.
Her current projects can be seen in detail on the portfolio page. The other pages give general information about Clancy’s fine art and artist books as well as fun goodies in a shop.
As she lives life she makes notes and drawings, using a fountain pen in a sketchbook – these notes and doodles are the raw data that “feed” her art. (“Life is an art, art is love.” says Sue.)
It will be no surprise then that her art studio logo, when Clancy uses one, looks like this:
Her frequently occurring artistic themes are: books, music, food, nature, human culture and living well – she often uses animal symbols and patterns as metaphors. (A blog post about why Sue uses animal symbolism is here: http://sueclancy.com/2016/03/12/animals-in-art/ )
The blog contains her sketchbook pages, the notes and drawings about her travels, life, creativity, business-of-art, artist books, photos of her fine art, artist book work-in-progress, and very occasionally her recipes for dinner. Yes, she also posts images of her finished fine art and artist books
