When I last wrote Jolabokaflod was coming… here’s the stack of new books I happily focused on during the evenings of Dec 24 and 25. More about this in my upcoming newsletter on Friday.

Not related to Jolabokaflod I ordered and received a Brewer’s Dictionary! No, it’s not beer related! 🤣 It contains over 1000 pages of phrases and sayings for use as inspiration for my art projects in 2024!!

I also got some new lighting for the art studio! The small ring clipped to my art easel is both a light and a magnifying glass. The tall ring light on the adjustable stand will also hold a camera phone.

Here’s the first photo I took using the ring light plus phone of a new artwork titled “The Bee’s Knees”.

After seeing that the light and camera phone actually worked together I tackled the remote control which allegedly could be connected via magical hocus pocus wizardry to my phone. I took the instructions and the remote out to our living room so I could sit down while I figured out whether I needed to call for the technical assistance of some 6 year olds we know.

After following the “push here dummy” instructions I accidentally took this selfie.

And then this accidental video.

Also new is the health hill that my wife is climbing and that I’m climbing with her. The hill metaphor is one she used when she wrote so very well about it here.

So that’s how my new year is starting – as the saying goes “Some things happen by accident – embrace them”.
