Figures of Speech 2.0 opens

Early in the first week of June my exhibit Figures of Speech 2.0 was hung at Burnt Bridge Cellars. Fortunately I had help hanging everything!

Thank goodness for Mark and Judy – I simply couldn’t have done it without them!

Here’s how the exhibit looked just after it was hung…

Then on Friday June 7 we went to the opening party. Our Fairy Goddaughter was kind enough to take photos of the opening!! I wrote about the evening on my email newsletter so I won’t repeat that text which you can read here but the photos are worth randomly repeating and adding a few extras here 👇.

And Russell and Barbara’s dog Remy poked his head in for a quick visit too!!!

The Caplan Art Designs Gallery sold one of my paintings before the exhibit opened and sold a second painting opening night.

I spent the rest of the weekend with my hurt ankle on ice…

…. and reading books.

Speaking of books: the printed album of my Figures of Speech 2.0 exhibit is here.

I hope your week is a good one.

  1. The exhibit looks great! How did people respond to Sir Half-Assed?

    1. Thank you so much!!! More than a few people came to where I was sitting to say “the donkey is my favorite”. Judy says “about 90% of the people said Half Assed was their favorite”. I saw many people look at the donkey, look at the wall tag and then laugh out loud!! Often they got the attention of someone they were with to share the donkey and the title Half Assed. Then both of them would laugh together! Probably they didn’t know I was the artist sitting a few feet from them. 😁

It was fun to watch people look at my work! And it’s also an odd sensation! When people know me they look at my art and talk with me about the art and other topics. When people don’t know me they look at my art and talk to whoever they’re with.

At an art opening reception with my friends it’s like having a birthday party. With people I don’t know it’s like being incognito at a party – if that makes sense. And I usually have both feelings all evening!

    2. You’re welcome! I’m very pleased to hear that Sir Half-Assed was given his due. There is something about the expression on his face that is irresistible. It’s in-your-face, mischievous, and charming all at the same time.

That must be a bit surreal to hear people talk about your art without knowing that you’re within earshot.

    3. Thank you!!! And yes, it is a bit surreal but also a fond memory that I’ll recall whenever I need a boost while I’m working! ❤❤❤

  2. Congratulations on another successful event! I was thinking about how good it was to see you up and about, on your feet doing things again, but I see you are paying the price for an evening of mobility. I hope the ice packs did the trick and that there was no setback in your healing.

    1. Thank you so much!!! It was good to be doing something semi-normal and I don’t think I set myself back too much. I tried to be careful and, thankfully, our Goddaughter was so kind as to do the running around I would have done in normal times! And the staff at the winery were kind and thoughtful too! Needed a few days of “leg on ice” and some rest but it was worth it! Thanks again!!!!! ❤❤❤
